Motorola Droid X Surpasses Expectations

Reported by: Zee crwenewswire Mideast correspondent

Motorola Droid X got a much better response than the company expected. The Droid X is now in short supply in the Verizon Wireless retail stores and customer pre-orders are being taken for home delivery. It is expected that the Droid X won’t be available in the market until August 4, 2010. All the stores are promising home delivery of the device by the 5th of August for orders placed by the 23rd of July.

Apple displays a video on its webpage showing that the Droid X also has the same reception problem as the iPhone4. However, the response to the Droid X has proven that it is one of the most successful Android-based devices ever launched and that it has set a standard by which all other Android phones can be measured.

It has been reported that customers prefer the Droid X because of its large screen, which helps users in multitasking. It is expected that the handset will be upgraded by August. The Droid X is expected to reach the popularity of the Droid 2 within the next month. A superior response to the upgrade of the Droid X is also expected.

Update: Apple Fulfills Its Promise to Provide Free Bumpers to Customers

By Zee
Mid East correspondent for crwenewswire.com

On Friday, July 23, Apple fulfilled its promise to give free bumpers to iPhone 4 customers facing reception issues.

“If you purchased an iPhone 4 before Sept. 30, 2010, you are eligible to receive an iPhone 4 Bumper or a select third-party case from Apple at no charge,” reads a dedicated page on Apple’s corporate Website. “For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than Aug. 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase.”

Customers who have already bought the bumpers from Apple’s retail stores using their credit card should not panic. They are offered a full refund by Apple if they fill out the rebate coupon by September 30, 2010. Shipping charges will also be refunded.

Customers are currently being provided with an iPhone4 Case Program application. This application allows the customer to select a free bumper or a free case. The casing offered is a plastic one that surrounds the side of the iPhone 4 to prevent the signal from being disturbed while the device is being used.

Users are not only limited to Apple brand bumpers. The company is offering them a variety of options. Users can opt for the Griffin Motif iPhone cover, the Belkin Shield Micra and the InCase snap case.

T-Mobile to offer the iPhone! A wireless revolution that was in the rumor mill

July 23rd, 2010 The Editor

commentary pen

Reported by: Anza, Crwenewswire Mideast Correspondent.

There is an eighty percent chance that T-Mobile will be offering the Apple iPhone, rumors and reports state. If the news proves to be true, it will be a revolution for the wireless industry, turning the current trends for the game players of the iPhone industry, and companies and individuals wanting the iPhone for their professional needs will find this to their advantage. But with the issues facing the iPhones whether this is a good idea for T-mobile is still up in the air.

Currently AT&T is the exclusive distributor of the Apple iPhone and rumors of ending this exclusivity are not new. However, unlike the current reports, it has always been discussed that Verizon, a primary competitor of AT&T, would be the next one to offer the infamous smartphone.

Where iPhone uses the GSM network Verizon depends on CDMA. For those who don’t understand, this mean that offering the iPhone on Verizon would mean a full re-structuring of the iPhones would be required to make it compatible with Verizon’s CDMA towers. Unlike Verizon, T-Mobile uses the same technology as the AT&T’s network i.e. the CDMA. This is one of the points making it easier for T-Mobile to implement the iPhone with T-mobile.

Whether it is CDMA or GSM, the demise of iPhone’s exclusivity is expected to shake the entire wireless industry. The separation of iPhone from the AT&T network will clear the question of whether the issues faced by iPhone customers are due to the improper make of the device or if it is the deficiencies of the AT&T network; or maybe both.

Currently RIM is topping the smartphone market share charts, maybe the wider availability due to the introduction of the iPhone will propel the iPhone to the top of the charts. One can see that if the iPhone is represented by Sprint or Verizon in the future, then businessmen shall have to choose between the iPhone and devices which are ‘iPhone-like’, such as the EVO 4G and the Droid X.

An evenhanded Android smartphone at AT&T is the Samsung Captivate. But still the Captivate is neither comparable to Droid X nor does AT&T let it do so by intentionally limiting the device with proprietary restrictions. If iPhones exclusivity ends, then it would make it possible to compare how the iPhone and the Android fare, when allowed to go head to head in the market.

T-Mobile is known to provide unlimited data, a service only recently cut off by AT&T. Thus an iPhone by T-Mobile will mean customers would be able to enjoy the unlimited data plan. For only a meager $80 a month, T-Mobile currently offers an unlimited plan for virtually anything from talking to text and even Web surfing. A package similar to this by AT&T would cost about $115 a month and would only allow 2 GB data usage.

AT&T should be concerned because if T-Mobile offers the iPhone, it would mean thirty percent cheaper prices and unlimited data at the same time, a service which would take some tough decisions to achieve, for AT&T and any other future representative of the iPhone.

AT&T is now expected to re-map its pricing plans, data plans, policies and ETF. For being the only lion in the jungle may be simpler but in competition you have to practice to roar louder!

Software Update a disaster for iPhone 3GS:

July 21st, 2010 The Editor

commentary pen

Reported by: Zee, crwenewswire.com Mideast correspondent

IPhone 4 issues have made Apple lose its great reputation. Apple is expected to take a huge loss this year because of their technology problems. Apple came up with a solution in the form of bumpers which it thought would satisfy its customers but unfortunately the reputation of Apple has already been affected due to the software update in iPhone 3G.

Customers were disappointed finding their handsets having an efficiency loss after the software update. Once the Operating System Update is installed, the set gets locked up continually. Web browsing becomes slow. A lot of queries from customers have been reported and Apple needs to prepare a satisfying answer.

Naturally consumers are inclined to just smash their sets after being irritated during use of the iPhone. And what is upsetting their customers even more Apple wants to charge customers for fixing Apples problem.

Logging on to their site to file a complaint consumers are asked for a fee which Apple incorrectly believes they are justified is requesting as in the company’s view the warranty for the device has ended and thus a fee is required.

This is a good way to lose consumer confidence and watch a company falling in the market then the next step when it is no longer able to sell products may be bankruptcy

Disappointed customers look forward to the jailbreak for iPhone 4 and 3GS and iOS 4.0.1 is expected soon. One of the user said ‘It keeps telling me to reinsert the SIM card, it drops calls … one call last night that went for about 30 minutes dropped out seven times,” .

The iOS4 update has proved to be a disaster for the set. “Constantly crashing, every morning when the alarm goes off it reboots itself [and] the browser is so slow it’s useless.” It’s time for Apple to save its reputation if at all possible with their fee attitude. After all Apple stands to lose its loyal customer base, if it cares?
